The Sunday like all sundays and the added attraction of the Ef at the gate .. spot any ?

Left all work to go and watch the closing ceremony of the Games, and felt since it was taking a while to close, I should not keep all of you waiting for long .. I could not make out what was more overwhelming ! The ceremony was massive and colorful and exciting and free and relaxed, with an air of casualness about it. I liked that. Protocol was being maintained, but without the rigidity of ceremony. And the emphasis on Britain and British pride was more than evident, which may have seemed too elaborated, but then as one comment by a British columnist succinctly put it - ’ So what, we’re paying for it, aren’t we !!’

Prep for KBC starts from tomorrow and I cannot describe the anxiety that one goes through as the day dawns near. People snigger cynically at this but it is a fact and one that I cannot just ignore. It is for me an experience not without its butterflies and shaking arms and legs ! And each year the expectation rises, which does not quite ease the situation.

My Mother’s Day, her birthday, went about in a quiet and contemplative manner. Spent some time in front of her freshly garlanded photograph and left. Shweta put up a lovely black and white picture of my Father leaving for Cambridge at the railway station in Allahabad, which I shall try and gather from her to put up on the blog. There is a 12 year old in the foreground of the photograph biting his nails, wearing, what at that time must have been pretty fashionable and exciting to don. Hope I can get that one soon so you can make out this awkward lad !

So the Olympics are finally over. The late nights shall stop. Sleep at a decent hour shall prevail and the reading and connecting on the twitter and blog shall hopefully improve substantially.

It is getting ridiculously close to 4 am and I must beg leave ..

But in the days to come I shall be working on introducing fresh features for the blog and take care of the writing of comments on smart phones, as pointed out to me by some of the Ef.
